Peer Support Groups

Our peer support groups are the heart of Dopamine Dolls. They are confidential and run by members of our community who share lived experience of ADHD. We aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can relax, be yourself and connect with people who truly get it.

What to Expect:

  • A Safe & Confidential Space: A strict code of conduct ensures all discussions remain private.

  • Strategy Sharing: Develop practical, real-world strategies for managing executive dysfunction, time management, overwhelm and more.

  • Shared Experience: Meet others in the Scottish Highlands who are navigating similar challenges - you are not alone.

  • Focus on Strengths: Learn to embrace your neurodiversity and utilise the unique strengths that come with having ADHD.

You can find out more about what to expect at one of our support groups in this blog post.

Coffee Catch Ups

Need a casual, no-stress way to connect with other Dolls? Join us for our regular Coffee Catch-Ups!

Held in a public, accessible location, these gatherings are all about low-demand socialising and finding your people. There's no structure, no pressure and definitely no expectation to talk if you don't feel up to it.

We provide a small selection of simple fidget-friendly craft materials if you need something to do with your hands, but feel free to bring your own project or just come to chat. It’s about the company, not the crafting!

What to Expect:

  • Low-Demand Socialising: No forced interactions or group icebreakers -just show up and settle in.

  • Fidget-Friendly Focus: Craft materials are provided as an optional activity, perfect for those who focus better while their hands are busy.

  • Public & Accessible: Held in a familiar, public space (Café de Paulo, Midmills Bldg, Stephens St, Inverness IV2 3JP) for ease of access and safety.

  • Community Connection: A straightforward way to meet others in the Highlands who truly understand the neurodiverse experience.

Dopamine Daunders

Movement is a powerful regulator for the ADHD nervous system. During the warmer months, join us for our Dopamine Daunders - gentle, local walks designed to boost your mood, connect you with nature and provide supportive conversation.

These are not fitness classes! We keep the pace relaxed and supportive, focusing on the joy of movement and the chance to talk and connect while walking. Getting out into the beautiful Highlands is a perfect way to help your brain and body feel good.

What to Expect:

  • Regulating Movement: A low-pressure activity that naturally supports focus and well-being.

  • Gentle Pace: We always walk at the pace of the slowest person; this is about well-being, not speed or distance.

  • Beautiful Scenery: Connect with your community while enjoying accessible nature trails and parks.

  • Supportive Socialising: The natural rhythm of walking can make conversation feel easier and less intense than sitting face-to-face.

  • Seasonal Joy: Scheduled during the warmer months to make the most of the weather and beautiful Highland scenery!

Creative Workshops

Sometimes, the best way to quiet the busy brain is to put your focus into something tangible and creative. Our Creative Workshops are arranged in collaboration with local Highland creatives to bring you unique, hands-on learning experiences.

These workshops provide a structured environment to learn a new skill while benefiting from the calming focus that creative work can offer. They are designed to be beginner-friendly and low-pressure.

What to Expect:

  • Collaboration with Local Artists: Learn techniques directly from talented local experts in fields like crochet, ceramics, printmaking, and more.

  • Hyperfocus Channeling: Use the engaging nature of creative tasks to naturally channel hyperfocus in a productive and enjoyable way.

  • Structure & Guidance: The workshops have clear, manageable steps to avoid overwhelm, ensuring you leave with a finished (or nearly finished!) piece.

  • Social Connection: A relaxed, parallel environment where socialising is optional but encouraged as you work side-by-side with other Dolls.

  • Tangible Results: Leave with a sense of accomplishment and a finished item that acts as a positive reminder of your focus and skill.

Dopamine Discussions

Dopamine Discussions are structured sessions focused on a single topic relevant to the lived experience of ADHD. These are designed to be informative, thought-provoking and provide practical takeaways you can immediately apply to your life.

Sessions are co-led by our core team and external experts. We bring in qualified professionals (such as psychiatrists, specialist dieticians, and others) to ensure the content blends peer-lived experience with clinical and evidence-based insights.

What to Expect:

  • Focused Topics: We delve into areas often impacted by ADHD, such as emotional regulation, navigating the diagnosis journey, tackling relationship dynamics, or understanding executive function better.

  • Structured Format: Each session starts with a brief presentation to introduce the topic, followed by supportive discussion and sharing.

  • Practical Takeaways: Gain new language and strategies for understanding your own brain and communicating your needs.

  • Safe Environment: A facilitated space where you can share insights, ask questions, and learn from others in a controlled setting.

  • Neurodiversity Affirming: All content is delivered through a positive, strengths-based lens that affirms neurodiversity.

The Dopamine Dolls Community

Support doesn't end when the group session does. Dopamine Dolls is a community dedicated to continuous connection and mutual understanding.

Beyond our scheduled meetings, we offer:

  • A Private Online Space: We have created a Facebook Community Group where our Dolls share experiences, ask questions and keep up with each other in-between our support sessions.

  • Volunteer Opportunities: A chance to become more deeply involved, share your skills, and empower others. Find out more about how you can get involved here.

  • Neurodiversity Advocacy: Opportunities to participate in raising awareness and educating the wider community on the realities of living with ADHD in the Highlands.

We are accepting of all disabilities, visible and invisible. If you require any adaptations, please get in touch.

Before attending any of our sessions, or interacting on our Facebook Community Group , please take the time to familiarise yourself with our Service User Ground Rules. Due to the nature and subject matter of our discussions, those attending our services and/or interacting on our Facebook group, must be 18 or over.
